How often do you kiss your wife or girlfriend without an ulterior motive - namely sex? A survey shows that couples who don't kiss frequently in non-sexual situations are eight times more likely to feel stressed or depressed compared with frequent smoochers.
The survey of 3 300 people found a strong correlation between relationship intimacy and the frequency of non-sexual kissing and cuddling. Which leads to a Zen proposition: push less, get more. "If you start kissing and cuddling without the expectation of sex, she's going to want it even more - because she'll feel closer to you, and that's what turns her on," says therapist Dr Laura Berman. Snuggling, says Berman, may trigger the release of oxytocin, "the chemical of attachment," which leads to a feeling of closeness. And we know what that leads to.
